In addition to our delivering support to all of your team members with mailboxes, not only a few of your technical people, some common reasons organizations choose Zimbra over Google Apps include:
48 days of un-delete/roll-back/restore for each mailbox
Free/busy time scheduling instead of calendar overlays
Microsoft Outlook 2003/2007 sync (mail, calendars, contacts, tasks, photos, identities)
Native Mac mail, ical and addressbook sync (mail, calendars, contacts, photos!)
Mobile device over-the-air (OTA) native sync, including native Blackberry (BES), iPhone (ActiveSync and CalDav for version 3.x), Windows Mobile and Palm devices
Zimbra Desktop looks the same as the web interface, and provides off-line access to all of your Zimbra info, even shared information, for Windows, Mac and Linux
The following feature comparison is based on research as of January, 2009. We welcome your comments and suggestions
to improve this table. Please note that we have listed current
features, so this table will change as new features are released. Also
note that this is not a strategic comparison. Would you like references

Zimbra over Google Apps? Please contact us.

I firmly believe that yahoo will deliver a KNOCK OUT punch to MS$ in the mail server market . As small company , we are really happy with the open source zimbra version .... If yahoo extends the amount of support to zimbra and some marketing Gimmicks as Microsoft often does ...... We can definitely say good bye for MS$

Google Apps does allow IMAP service (with SSL even) so this breakdown needs to be updates.

I don't think we mention IMAP in this comparison, just LDAP. In any event, both solutions support IMAPs, 01.com at 256-bit. Oh, I see, where we say "external email support"... that's for external checking. Does Google Apps now allow you to check external addresses using IMAP? Or do you mean that Google Apps allows you to check its mailbox with IMAPs? I think the latter, unless you respond again. We appreciate non-anonymous responses, btw, and we often will not publish anonymous ones.

Thanks for this breakdown! Zimbra really can't be beat. From exchange, to google apps, there really isn't anything that comes close to the flexibility of integration that Zimbra has. Zimbra just works, and thats how things like this should be! PS> 01.com rocks by the way... you guys really offer the best deal for zimbra on the web... It would be cool if you had a whitelabel reseller program...
