A domain is an internet domain, such as 01.com, or zimbra.com, or
yourcompany.com. Most organizations have their own domain, or if not,
then use a modified version of their domain, such as
01.yourcompany.com, with our Business Hosting services, and forward
mail to it. Optionally, if you're just testing our service or need only
a single account, we offer the use of @zimbra.01.com with our Personal
Hosting service.
A domain admin, or domain administrator, is a person with a mailbox
and extra privileges on a Zimbra server. The domain admin, available to
Business Hosting customers and customers with their own Zimbra servers
(dedicated and remote maintenance), has a special domain admin web site,
and when using her/his normal email address and password, can login to
the domain admin web site securely and perform tasks such as changing,
adding or deleting new mailboxes, distribution lists, aliases, changing
quotas, and downloading the latest versions of the Zimbra client
software.
At 01.com, the domain admin is often also the primary account holder, and also automatically has domain admin privileges for anti-spam and virus settings, and have access to the Billing Manager, which has each customer's account history, billing information, and company contacts.
Note that while we do not provide domain hosting, 01.com will
configure up to 1 primary domain name and unlimited domain aliases for you free-of-charge with your 01.com shared hosting service. Domain aliases are free-of-charge, and there is
no limit to the number of domain names you may have on our mail
servers.
Note that you may have to sign-up for multiple accounts to control multiple domains in Zimbra 5.x, see: How do I order more than one domain name? Also see our demonstration movies page.
Please note that when you place your order, your chosen domain is
configured automatically on the 01.com servers. Mail will not be
directed to your domain on the 01.com servers until you change your MX
record in your DNS. The exception to this rule is for existing clients
using the 01.com servers, including 01.com team members: for these
users, the 01.com mail server will attempt delivery only to the domain
installed locally. For example, prior to switching your MX record, if
you're wondering why you haven't received responses from 01.com team
members, check your mailbox on the 01.com server, because our messages,
sent through the 01.com servers, will be delivered there.
